Avenue House is an excellent care home offering residential, dementia and nursing care for the elderly, on the outskirts of Rushden in Northamptonshire. The Fire Service checks our buildings regularly and we PAT test all electrical items when they are first bought into the building and annually thereafter. At the end of all of these inspections we are given written reports with recommendations where needed. Once a year our residents complete a survey where they are asked about their views on life in Avenue House. When you come to live at Avenue House your personal health and care needs will be discussed with you and your Care Plan agreed. Any help you need will be given with respect and consideration for your privacy.

Our additional care support, such as our visiting GP and other care professionals such as chiropodists are based within the medical centre on the ground floor. Our therapies team are situated alongside the medical suite, which also incorporating our therapy gym. We offer respite care for those wishing to stay for a shorter time period. Every activity, engagement and interaction is carefully planned to meet their needs, all of whom will be at different stages of their journey living with dementia. A care plan is devised to best support the holistic needs of the individual Resident. In 2018, the original Hammerson House building was demolished to make way for our new, modern, innovative care home, Hammerson House, Wohl Campus.
Safe and Caring
Medication will be supervised if required, or it may be decided that you remain responsible for this yourself. Of course, you are not obliged to use these particular people; you are free to invite your own hairdresser or chiropodist into the home whenever you wish. Residents are encouraged to help keep the bird feeder topped up with food, and to help feed the fish on a regular basis. The garden also boasts a large pleasant patio area, where many residents enjoy sitting, reading, taking tea / coffee etc on the garden furniture in the summer. At Avenue House we have rooms which are suitable for both privately funded residents and residents to be funded by social services.
All clothes need to be labelled with your name, preferably before you come to live here – we can order labels for you if you like. We have a cleaner on duty everyday during the week and they will make arrangements with you about when your individual room will be cleaned. Was comprehensively re-developed in 2003, and everywhere has been completely redecorated, with new carpets, curtains and lighting. The stately old Victorian building is joined to a modern three-storey extension, and is serviced by two lifts.

The home has three gardens for all the residents to enjoy and many of the rooms look out onto one of these gardens. You must have lived in Germany on a residence permit for at least 8 years or you must have lived in Germany on a residence permit for 7 years and attended an integration course . We have one of the largest in-house therapy departments within a care home setting in the UK. The multi-disciplinary team comprise our physiotherapists, occupational therapists, a moving and handling advisor and dietitian.
We respect your own religious faith, if any, and will help you make arrangements to attend services or meetings in the home or elsewhere. – there are some services which we can’t rate, while some might be under appeal from the provider. Suspended ratings are being reviewed by us and will be published soon. Avenue House is part of the Jasmine Healthcare Ltd group, the management of which make regular visits to the Home to ensure our high standards are maintained. The care teams are here to help with bookings, should a Resident require some support. We have one of the largest therapy teams situated within a care home setting in the UK, providing occupational therapy, physiotherapy and moving and handling support. Our dementia households are carefully designed to meet the needs of Residents living with dementia. 24 hour nursing care is available for Residents who have more complex health and care needs.
In 2012, Hammerson House merged with Nightingale House, our home in Clapham. It is a great testament to the Hammerson family that we are able to continue their vision in providing a wonderful home, offering exceptional care. We recruit individuals who are dedicated and passionate about caring for others and who can work as part of a team. Provides insurance for residents’ possessions up to an agreed limit. Our care team includes dedicated Senior Care Assistants and Care Assistants, and at night there are always two Care Assistants awake on duty. The remainder of the team is made up of Cooks, Domestic Assistants, Activity Coordinators, an Administrator and a Maintenance Worker. This report states that the registered manager is Mrs M Grosvenor who was not managing regulatory activities at this location at the time of the inspection. Their name appears because they were still identified as a registered manager on our register at the time. To be eligible for your local authority to pay elderly care fees, the resident must not have savings of over £23,250 . In addition, the local authority will generally require a contribution towards the care home costs they fund from the resident’s income and resources. (This means the council will pay for the initial 12 weeks to give time for the property to sell, and then the monies need to be re-paid to the council).
